Rod was born in Montreal and through a series of moves spent most of his youth growing up as the step son of prominent Vancouver Stock Exchange financier/promoter Martin Gibbeson. This life-style encouraged an interest in mining exploration which led to a mining diploma from the B.C. Institute of Technology in 1971. From there, Rod played a key role within a group headed by renowned mine builder Chester Millar, who discovered the famous ‘Afton’ native copper mine near Kamloops B.C.

After seeing Afton progress through to production, Rod tried his hand in business product development and sales before completing the Canadian Securities Course and joining Canaccord in Vancouver as an investment advisor in 1986, where he remains today. Rod likes to think he takes a broad view of the investment industry while feeling most comfortable evaluating mineral resource projects. Rod believes that the diversified and healthy Canadian economy provides an excellent opportunity for investment.
